Seneca County Park District invites all ages to a Nature Walk Bird Talk at 8 a.m. Sept. 8 at Garlo Heritage Nature Preserve, SR 19 south of Bloomville.
The walk is to last about 1 1/2 hours and qualifies for the walking stick program. See what might be lurking in the woods, grasslands or wetlands.
Preschool Pals ages 3-5 with an adult companion can explore a creek at 11 a.m. Sept. 8 at Forrest Nature Preserve.
Dress to get wet and walk in the water to see what lives in, on, above and beyond Honey Creek.

Sandusky County
Assist researcher Tom Kashmer with monarch butterfly migration studies by netting, tagging and releasing butterflies at 1 p.m. Sept. 8 and Sept. 22.
Meet at the Sandusky County Park District office, 1970 Countryside Place, Fremont. Nets and instruction are provided.
Take a wagon ride 8:30-10:30 a.m. Sept. 10 down the North Coast Inland Trail at Biggs-Kettner Park, 601 St. Joseph St., Fremont.
People ages 6 and older are invited to take a slow ride down the oldest part of the trail, and enjoy orange juice and doughnuts.

Hancock County
Zonta Landing boat rentals are to close for the season Monday.
Hancock Park District concession stand is to observe normal business hours 1-7 p.m. during the holiday weekend as long as weather and river conditions are suitable. Rentals are to be taken first-come, first-served at the concession stand in Riverside Park's waterfront area along the Blanchard River for canoes, kayaks and pedal boat rentals.
Rates are $5 per half-hour, which includes lifejackets and necessary equipment.
Attend the first program with the district's new portable planetarium 7-9 p.m. Sept. 8 at "Doc" Phillips Discovery Center.
Sign up for 20-minute presentations inside the planetarium to learn what's going on in the night sky in early September.
There is no fee, but registration is needed by Sept. 6 by calling (419) 425-PARK.
The September Discovery Story is to take place Sept. 10 at the Discovery Center. Children ages 3-6 with an adult companion can choose from a 10 a.m. or 1 p.m. program. Other-age siblings are welcome.
Children can enjoy a story and then go outside for a nature hike to look for butterflies, birds and other creatures. Wear play clothes and tennis shoes.
Enjoy the sights and sounds of fall arriving during program assistant Chris Allen's fall hike at 6 p.m. Sept. 11.
Meet outside the Discovery Center on the covered porch.
Learn how early pioneers survived the winter and the types of foods they ate during a 6 p.m. program Sept. 8 at Litzenberg Memorial Woods Activity Barn.
Guests are to learn basic 19th-century drying, pickling and preserving methods for fruits, vegetables and other food items. Also, guests are to receive a booklet of recipes and tips for trying yesterday's tastes and preservation methods.
