Clara E. "Bess" Harshman, 92, of Tiffin, passed away Tuesday evening, Sept. 4, 2012, at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay.
She was born Feb. 15, 1920, in Gibsonburg, to Leo A. and Eda (Bauer) Foos. She married Joseph P. Alleman and he preceded her in death. She then married Frederick "Fritz" Lufitz and he preceded her in death. She married Paul Harshman Feb. 5, 1971, and he also preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Jim (Sharon) Alleman of Toledo; two daughters, Judy (Richard) Kisaberth of Republic and Terry Walker of Tiffin; three sisters, Georgia Pertner of Gibsonburg, Ursula Jane (Loren) Nowak of Elmore and Edith (Lloyd) Munson of Fort Laramie, Wyo.; 23 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two infant sons, David L. Alleman and Thomas P. Alleman; three brothers, John and James Foos and infant brother, Charles Foos; six sisters, Madonna Mathews, Agnes Holland, Patricia Ward, Emma Reinbolt, Rita Schlea and Mary Gillow; and two grandchildren, Jenny Alleman and Chad Kisaberth.
Bess was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin. She sang in the choir at church for 25 years and was a member of the Rosary Alter Society. Bess enjoyed her monthly gathering with her sisters and enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; giving them lots of attention. She volunteered for many years and enjoyed taking care of others. Bess always kept everyone in her prayers.
Her Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, with the Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Tiffin. A rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass.
Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH 44883, (419) 447-2424. A Christian wake service will begin at 8 p.m.
