Band seeks members

FOSTORIA - Fostoria Community Band is inviting local musicians to join the volunteer organization. The band is to have its first rehearsal of the season Thursday.

Rehearsals take place 7-9 p.m. most Thursdays in Fostoria Intermediate Elementary School band room.

Bargain hunters

invited to Allen Eiry

Allen Eiry Senior Center, 28 Hopewell Ave., is conducting a rummage sale 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 9 a.m.-noon Saturday.

Chili, tacos; what else do you need to know?

Autumnwood Care Center, 670 E. SR 18, is having a fundraiser Friday to generate money for a minivan.

Volunteers are to offer "walking tacos" and chili to eat in or carryout.

Ice cream social,

rummage sale on tap

FOSTORIA - Grace United Church of Christ, Fostoria, is to host its annual ice cream social Friday.

The Trash and Treasure Room is to be open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and food is to be served 11 a.m.-6:30 p.m. The menu includes soup, sandwiches, salads, desserts and Dietsch Brothers Ice Cream. Carry-outs are to be available.

Alzheimer's walk scheduled Saturday

The Northwest Ohio Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association is to stage its annual Tiffin Walk to End Alzheimer's Saturday at Hedges-Boyer Park.

Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. at The Barn with the walk starting at 10:30 a.m. Proceeds from the walk are to help support programs and services, advocacy and research.

Area center offers

day care for adults

FOSTORIA - Daybreak of Fostoria has a few openings for clients. The adult day care center in the lower level of Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Fostoria is a safe place for those in the early to mid-stages of memory loss or Alzheimer's disease but still living at home.

The cost to attend is $30 per day, which includes lunch. Financial assistance is available for those who need it, as well as information about transportation options.

Tiffin T-Squares open houses approaching

Tiffin T-Squares are to have open houses 7-9 p.m. Sunday and Sept. 30 at Tiffin Developmental Center gym, 600 N. River Road.

Underage alcohol use topic of local seminar

Community Action for Reducing Substance Abuse is organizing a "Let's Talk" program, "Sober Truth about Underage Drinking."

The event is 6-7:30 p.m. Sept. 26 at North Central Ohio ESC, 928 W. Market St. The speaker is Raymond Rodriguez, agent in charge of the Ohio Investigative Unit.

Admission is free. Light refreshments are to be available.

Honor Flight chapter wrapping up season

Honor Flight Northwest Ohio is to conclude its 2012 flying season Sept. 26 by taking 49 Korean War veterans to Washington, D.C., to see the capital's various military memorials.

The flight also includes 35 World War II veterans, for a total of 84 veterans making the trip.
