SYCAMORE - Sycamore Village Administrator Charles Clark plans to provide input during a meeting today with FEMA and state officials regarding a storm that struck the village in June.
Clark told council at the Tuesday night meeting a transformer pole and hardware was damaged. Repair is estimated in excess of $3,000 and he hopes some costs, including labor and vehicle usage, may be able to be reimbursed. He is to apply for reimbursement on behalf of the village. Wyandot County is one of 37 counties that have been approved for assistance from the federal government for the storm.
Clark's report also said repairs to Third Street are to be finished soon. He added flushing of water lines is occurring and residents should be aware that discoloration of their water may occur. Although it is safe to consume, it may discolor clothes being washed.
Council approved a resolution allowing a credit of $1,303.74 toward water service and sewer charges as well as a charge for electrical distribution for the American Legion ballfield. Council expressed support of the ballfield as a community service in that it is utilized by children of residents in their athletic endeavors.
Village employees Don Heilman and Dan Hooten were recognized by Mayor Matthew Boucher for their assistance in providing traffic control following a fatal train and vehicle accident June 24.
Fire Chief Bryan Clouse reported Sycamore's fire and EMS personnel engaged in water rescue training in a joint effort with McCutchenville emergency personnel at Lake Mohawk.
Trick or treat night has been set for Oct. 25 and parade Oct. 27.
The Income Tax Committee is to meet at 4 p.m. Tuesday. Council is to meet at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 9 at village office.
