FREMONT - Haunted Hydro Dark Attraction Park is to open at 7 p.m. Oct. 5 for its 23rd Halloween season. Crazy Bob and Beth Turner, owners and operators, have various features planned, including two new haunted attractions and the original live production, "Decades of Decay."
More than 40 "hauntertainers" and crew members have signed on for the season.
The gates open nightly at 7 for "Ghoul-A-Bration" pre-show activity featuring performances by the hauntertainers. The Haunted Hydro is to be open for 13 nights. The park has two main haunted houses - "The Haunted Hydro" and the new "Camp Slaughter" Wheel of Fortune/Misfortune stage shows, tarot card readings, photo opportunities, merchants, vendors and food concessions.
Patrons can pay to bash an old car with a sledgehammer, with proceeds to go to charity.
Visitors can hit the Haunted Hooptie for Charity. An old vehicle, the "hooptie" is provided and patrons can pay to vent their rage by bashing it with a sledgehammer. Safety goggles are included. All proceeds go into a Community Action fund to benefit area organizations and needy families.
Three Friendly Monster Sunday Matinees are scheduled Oct. 14, 21 and 28. This family-friendly show is for kids 9 and younger and anyone else who loves to dress up for a non-scary Halloween. Families will be treated to a behind-the-scenes, lights-on tour of the Haunted Hydro.
A second attraction includes dancing to the "Monster Mash," "Thriller" and other songs. All children will receive a special bag filled with goodies and a special autographed picture of Crazy Bob.
Children are welcome to wear their Halloween costumes Oct. 21 amd 28 for a costume contest.
