Joanne E. Schreiner,84, of Carey, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, at 8:20 a.m. at her residence.
She was born to the late Harry R. and Carrie (McGee) Hayman in McCutchenville, on July 18, 1928.
She married Eugene A. Schreiner on Nov. 25, 1950, at Our Lady of Consolation Church, Carey. He preceded her in death on Jan. 29, 1990.
Joanne is survived by seven children, Dennis (Sharon) Schreiner, Sandusky, Debra (Bill) Klippstein, Oak Harbor, Janet (Tim) Kinn, New Riegel, Terry (Carla) Schreiner, Vermilion, Jeff (Amy) Schreiner, Carey, Allan (Tanna) Schreiner, Advance, N.C., and Randy (Christin) Schreiner, Carey. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four sisters, Edith Mitten, Mary Caudill, both of Carey, Louise Huffman, Amherst, and Lois (Ray) Pahl, New Riegel.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Dale, Paul and George Hayman and one sister, Gladys Spitler.
Joanne was a homemaker. She had worked as a cook at O.L.C. School and New Riegel Cafe, she also had worked as a greeter at Meijer in Findlay for eight years. She also enjoyed gardening, canning and reading. She was a member of All Saints Parish-St. Nicholas Chapel, Frenchtown. She was a member of the Catholic Ladies of Columbia and along with her husband, The Cursillo Movement. She was a member of the American Legion Aux. No. 354 and Moose Lodge No. 872, New Riegel.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey. Scripture service will be held at 8 p.m.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct.3, 2012, at All Saints Parish-St. Nicholas Chapel, Frenchtown, with the Rev. John Stowe, OFM Conv. officiating. Burial will follow in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Frenchtown.
