Prep Cross Country Roundup: H-L boys win in Fremont

FREMONT - Chet Swartzmiller and Robert Kniss each finished in the top 10 of the St. Joe Central Catholic Invitational, pushing the Chieftains to a first-place finish Tuesday.

The Chieftains finished with 65 points, edging Otsego on a tiebreaker. Carey finished third with 69 points, while Calvert (127) took sixth and St. Wendelin (229) ended eighth.

Swartzmiller ran seventh in 17:52.68, while Kniss finished right behind him in 17:59.42.

Carey's Michael Patton came in fifth (17:51.59). Right behind him was St. Wendelin's Jordan Nye, who finished in 17:51.83. Carey's Brayden Leist finished 10th.

Calvert's top finisher was Austin Schultz, who took 12th (18:09.71).

Lake's Tyler Rickman won in 16:40.33.

Chieftains turn back SW girls

FREMONT - Hopewell-Loudon held off St. Wendelin 84-93 Tuesday for the girls title at the Fremont St. Joe Central Catholic Invitational.

Erin Reinhart-Anez's fourth (21:32.98) led the Chieftains to the crown, with Shelby Raudebaugh adding a sixth (21:51.66).

Kailey Coleman added a 23rd (22:53.05) and Leah Reinhart (23:13.59) and Haley Schreiner (23:17.54) ran 25th and 26th. Katelyn Brickner (40th, 24:39.3) and Morgan Brant (42nd, 24:53.89) rounded out the title team.

Jocelyn Reinhart's second (21:15.61) and Victoria Volpe's third (21:27.1) for St. Wendelin led all local efforts.

Sara Goddard added an 11th (21:58.22) for the runner-up Mohawks, Karin Goddard clocked in 28th (23:26.6), Sammie Digby ended 55th (26:05.7) and Kyra Weber finished 61st (27:10.89).

Calvert nipped Carey 104-105 for third, and New Riegel came in fifth (135).

Morgan Smith claimed seventh (21:54.61) for Calvert and Sydney Berlekamp ended 18th (22:29.64).

Carey got a 10th from Jaclyn Troiano (21:57.32) and a 14th from Sarah Walter (22:17.35).

New Riegel's Ashley Mathias (21:54.85) and Abby Cassidy (21:56.23) ran eighth and ninth.

Miller leads Rams to seventh

CRESTLINE - Upper Sandusky's Garrett Miller claimed second at the Crestline Invitational, and the Rams finished seventh at the meet overall.

Miller ran in 17:22, trailing only Cardington Lincoln's Jacob Long, who won in 16:39.77. The Rams' Dominic Solis also had a strong day, taking seventh (17:50.8).

Colonel Crawford won the meet with 50 points, while Buckeye Central finished 14th out of 15 teams.

Buckeye Central's top runner was Sam Robertson, who took 75th (21:15.2).

Upper Sandusky's girls ended fifth in their meet with 130 points. Buckeye Central did not field a full team.

Katlin Rowe (23:14.86) and Kirsten Gardner (23:22.93) ran 17th and 18th for Upper Sandusky.

Buckeye Central got a 31st from Lizabeth Figueroa (24:19.86) and a 42nd from Laura Metzger (25:08.31).
