Amabilis ‘Dee’ Huss

Amabilis "Dee" Huss, 90, of Tiffin, passed away Friday afternoon, Oct. 5, 2012, at St. Francis Home.

She was born May 16, 1922, in Tiffin, to Antonio and Vincenza (Pelligrini) DeMonte. She married Paul V. Huss Feb. 2, 1946, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, and he survives.

Other survivors include her three sons, Paul V. (Paula) Huss Jr. of Tiffin, Charles P. (Linda) Huss of Dunbar, W.Va., and James R. (Michelle) Huss of Palm Harbor, Fla.; three daughters, Judith K. (Dean) Walliser of Lancaster, Susan E. (John) Wampler of Union, and Mary Ann Rumschlag, of Clearwater, Fla.; sister-in-law, Marjorie DeMonte; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers, Primo, Louis and Alvin DeMonte.

Mrs. Huss attended St. Mary grade school and graduated from Tiffin Calvert High School in 1940. She attended Lee Sales College part-time and graduated from Mercy School of Nursing, Toledo, in 1943. She returned to Tiffin and worked at Mercy Hospital in obstetrics, surgery, private and general duty 1943-1968. She then worked at the State Hospital (Tiffin Developmental Center) 1971-1982 and at the migrant health clinic in Tiffin for two years. She was an active member of Mercy Alumni, Toledo, St. Mary Catholic Church; women's rosary, choir, Rosary Altar Society and Daughters of Isabella. She was also a member of St. Francis and Mercy Hospital Auxiliary.

She served on the Seneca County Health Department Board and served as an R.N. hostess in the surgical waiting room. She was always ready to help others and enjoyed reading, listening to classical music, bowling, golfing and playing pinochle and euchre.

Her Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Gary Walters officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. A rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass.

Friends may visit with the family 5-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, (419) 447-2424. A Christian wake will begin at 4:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church or St. Francis Home in Tiffin.
