Seneca Muzzleloaders rendezvous this weekend
Seneca Muzzleloaders are to be camped for a fall primitive rendezvous on the grounds of the Sandusky River Coon Hunters this weekend.
The public is welcome to visit 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday or 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday.
A primitive rendezvous is an event where participants re-enact life as it was before 1840. People are welcome to watch a black powder shoot at 1 p.m. Saturday, as well as an archery competition and tomahawk and knife throwing and other activities.
The grounds are at 7575 S. TR 131, down the hill along the banks of the Sandusky River. Park at the top and walk down the hill.
15,000 pheasants to be
released for public hunts
COLUMBUS - The Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife plans to release more than 15,000 ring-neck pheasants at 28 public hunting areas this fall.
Pheasants are to be released Oct. 19 and Oct. 26 in anticipation of the small-game weekends for youth hunters Oct. 20-21 and Oct. 27-28.
Ohio's small game hunting season begins Nov. 2, with pheasant releases to take place Nov. 1 and Nov. 9. The final release of the fall is scheduled Nov. 21.
Pheasant season remains open through Jan. 6, with a daily bag limit of two male birds. Statewide hunting hours are sunrise to sunset.

Fall turkey season opens Saturday in 48 counties
COLUMBUS - Fall wild turkey hunting opens in 48 counties Saturday and continues through Nov. 25, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife.
Hunters harvested 1,375 wild turkeys during last year's fall season, and an estimated 180,000 wild turkeys are available this year.
One turkey of either sex may be taken during the fall season, and a fall permit is required. Hours are a half-hour before sunrise to sunset. Shotguns using shot, crossbows and longbows are permitted.

Deer harvest numbers
to be tallied online weekly
COLUMBUS - Interested people can keep up with Ohio's deer harvest numbers throughout the season at www.wildohio.com.
The deer harvest report is to be posted each Wednesday by noon throughout the hunting season. Each report is to compare the total harvest for the same number of hunting days for each year.
The report is to include longbow, crossbow, shotgun, handgun and muzzleloader numbers.
