NEW RIEGEL - New Riegel Board of Education members met in special session Friday morning to approve the purchase of a new tractor and a mower.
After approving the purchase of a CT445 Compact tractor with a 9TL dealer installed front-end loader Monday evening, administrators learned they must be a member of the Ohio Department of Administrative Services cooperative purchasing program before they could complete the transaction.
Members approved participating in the program for an annual fee of $100.
The tractor, which costs $27,646.76 after trade-in of $2,500, includes a 96-inch snowblade from Bobcat. The mower is a Woods TBW144 commercial rear discharge finish mower from John Deere costing $13,391.
Maintenance Supervisor Denny Kline explained during the Monday meeting that the new tractor replaces a 36-year-old Massey in need of numerous repairs.
Board members are to meet in regular session at 7 p.m. Nov. 12.
