Nat King Cole gets concert tribute

FREMONT - Terra State Community College's "Jazz and American Music Series" begins at 7 p.m. Saturday with the first of three scheduled concerts in the Recital Hall in Building D. This concert features the Chris Buzzelli Trio performing the music of Nat King Cole.

Performing with Buzzelli are to be Eric Dickey and Kevin Eikum.

A faculty member at Bowling Green State University, Buzzelli is professor of guitar and jazz studies and director of the vocal jazz ensemble. He also has served on the faculty of the University of Michigan and has presented clinics and master classes at regional and national conferences nationwide.

Dickey is the musical director of Zoar Lutheran Church in Perrysburg and has toured Europe and Asia with classical and jazz ensembles.

Eikum has distinguished himself in diverse musical fields, having performed with Jack Sheldon, Pete Barbutti, Stevie Ray Vaughn and others. He has served as the bassist and rhythm section leader of the Toledo Jazz Orchestra since 1984 and is a member of the vocal group Sixth Edition.
