A nonprofit group called Socks For Seniors is looking for groups and individuals near Tiffin willing to help collect socks.
Socks for Seniors, based in Columbus, is an annual community service project that organizes collections of new socks to be distributed to elderly in local nursing homes around the holidays. Today - Make A Difference Day - is the official kick-off of the campaign, which runs through Christmas.
Founded 11 years ago, the organization is operated 100 percent by volunteers.
One person can conduct a sock drive with one box at one location. Decorate a box and find a location or locations for the collection.
Socks For Seniors helps with promotional materials and suggestions. All socks would stay at care centers in the local area. The group also can help collectors to make connections with senior communities at the end of the sock drive.
