Dragons ousted from GLIAC soccer tourney

HOUGHTON, Mich. - Katie Boardman had a goal and an assist, and Michigan Tech held Tiffin to just four shots Wednesday in a 3-0 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's soccer quarterfinal win.

Boardman's goal off a penalty kick at the 18:26 mark snapped a scoreless tie.

She and Janelle Riedl had the assists on Lexi Herrewig's goal two minutes into the second half, giving the Huskies (14-3-1) a 2-0 lead.

Amanda Whiting converted pass from Herrewig and Danna Kasom into the game's final goal 25 minutes later. Jenna Phelps had two saves for Michigan Tech.

Hayley Coppola and Lindsey Gallagher each had three saves for the Dragons (9-8-2).

TU volleyball falls to Ohio Dominican

Ohio Dominican turned back Tiffin 25-17, 25-15, 25-20 Tuesday in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play.

Tory Thompson's 11 kills and 24 digs fueled the Panthers (11-14, 5-9 GLIAC). Caitlin Kusan crushed 13 kills, Darby Slavin (18) and Kesley Fortney (13) combined for 31 assists and Bailey Barker had 12 digs.

Tiffany Buchinger's 26 assists and 10 digs led the Dragons (8-17, 1-13).

Danielle McQuade registered 11 digs and eight kills, Maggie Betz lined six kills and Jordan Jenkins came up with 30 digs.
