Sister Mary Evelyn Kuhn, 89, a member of the Ursuline Convent for 71 years, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at Ursuline Center, 4035 Indian Road, Toledo.
Sister Mary Evelyn, a 1941 graduate of Calvert High School, Tiffin, entered The Ursuline Community Sept. 8, 1941, from St. Mary Parish, Tiffin. She had both a bachelor's and a master's degree from Mary Manse College, Toledo.
As an elementary educator, she taught at St. Francis de Sales, St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Agnes and St. Charles schools, Toledo; St. Gerard, Lima; St. Rose, Perrysburg, and St. Joseph, Tiffin. Sister was the principal at St. Rose, Perrysburg, from 1966-1969. Beginning in 1989, she taught at St. Joseph School, Galion, until 2003. From 2003, she was involved in tutoring and helping as a teacher's aide until her retirement to the Ursuline Center in 2008.
Sister Mary Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Clara Kuhn; three sisters, Mary Draheim, Eileen Gordon and Dolores Nitecki; and two brothers, Maurice and William Kuhn.
She is survived by her two sisters, Jeanne Troxell and Patricia Rodgers; many nieces and nephews; and her sisters in the Ursuline Community.
Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, with a vigil at 7 p.m. at the Ursuline Center.
The funeral liturgy will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at the Ursuline Center. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Toledo.
