The future of our country

November 1, 2012
The Advertiser-Tribune

Dear friends and neighbors,

I'm writing this because I'm worried about the future of our country. I'm just a concerned Ohioan who simply wants you to have some information to make an informed decision for yourself in this critical election.

I believe we are at a fork in the road, and America as we know it will not survive if we keep going in the wrong direction.

My concern boils down to this Americans are losing our most precious asset: freedom.

1.Freedom for our children is jeopardized.

Our gift to our children should be a bright future, full of potential. But all President Barack Obama has given our children and grandchildren is trillions of dollars in new debt. Our national debt now exceeds $16 trillion! Will our children really have freedom when burdened with all this debt?

2. Freedom of choice in health care could be gone.

With government takeover of health care, Obama removed our freedom of choice in health care decisions. The 2010 bill has led to higher taxes and an increased financial burden for generations to come. But even more frightening we will no longer be able to choose the type of health coverage that best meets the needs of our family. The federal government will do this for us. Shouldn't choices on your health care be left up to you?

3. Economic freedom is fading away.

The cost of living is going up, not enough jobs are available and the economy remains on a very uncertain path. Look at the cost of fuel, electricity, food and much more. Have you noticed the price of fuel has doubled since 2009?

That's what happens when trillions of dollars are printed out of thin air, and Obama pushes harsh restrictions on exploration and use of oil, natural gas and coal. As more money is printed, dollars are worth less. Added costs in extracting and refining natural resources mean these increases are passed on to consumers.

Add expensive energy to out-of-control government spending, excessive regulations on everything, a government takeover of health care and an overused printing press for our dollar, and you have created a job- and prosperity-killing machine. Don't you want your children and future generations to have a chance at their version of the American dream?

Freedom is disappearing before our eyes, so please vote wisely in this election.

Sincerely,

Marsha Rexroth,

Tiffin
