A doggone success

October 20, 2012
The Advertiser-Tribune

McClung's Animal Hospital's Inaugural Dog Day Run/Walk for the Tiffin Bark Park Project Oct. 13 was a doggone huge success, with 125 participants.

I organized my first dog 5K fundraiser 31 years ago, for my professional fraternity, when I was in OSU Veterinary School, and I was hoping for the same success here in Seneca County. However, this event far exceeded my expectations and was much more special to me because it involved my two- and four-legged personal and professional friends from my hometown and community.

It was such an enjoyable morning, whether you came to run or walk your dog or just visit with other pet-loving people in support of building the largest northwest Ohio dog park right here in Tiffin. There were smiling faces and wagging tails everywhere I looked, and I'm still smiling just thinking of it.

On behalf of McClung's Animal Hospital staff, we would like to thank all those who made this event possible. I'd like to personally thank my staff for making all of our hospital endeavors enjoyable, loving the animal care profession, and approaching hard work so positively and compassionately every day. Thanks to the Tiffin Bark Park Board for entertaining my idea and volunteering all those hours to make the Dog Day Run/Walk such a successful community event. It takes a group of hard working individuals with passion and dreams to put this together.

I'd also like to thank the area businesses that graciously donated door prizes, etc. I personally understand how many times a year you are called upon to donate, and we appreciate your generosity. Most importantly, we would like to thank all of you wonderful participants who came out in support of the Bark Park and enjoyed a fabulous morning of pets and their people. In anticipation of this becoming an annual event, we hope to see you and yours next year. And we hope to see you soon at Tiffin's very own Dog Park.

Brad McClung, DVM,

Tiffin
