I ask myself, is Ben Nutter worth it? I see in the League of Women Voters information the commissioner's position pays $55,524 per year for four years.
This year as president, he scheduled one or two board meeting per week. However, there was one cancellation after another of those meetings which sometimes lasted as little as 15 minutes.
I am not aware of any public work sessions that were scheduled. There were, however, some viewings and meetings that were attended. But, on a number of occasions, Mr. Nutter was off for medical reasons or just plain off. And, because he followed the Sunshine Law, no private communication was to have occurred with other commissioners.
Granted, he has been out talking with residents now that he is campaigning to be re-elected. But, if you add up his total board session hours for last month and double it for possible meetings and preparation time, when using the above stated salary, Ben is earning more than $550 per hour.
Once again, I ask myself, is Ben worth it? Let him know what you think Nov. 6.
