REPUBLIC - FSI Inc. representative Duke Fultz attended Republic's council meeting Monday evening to address concerns of residents who had filed complaints regarding trash pick-up services.
Dave Hamilton questioned the increase in rates shortly after services began, and Fultz said only contracted increases have been applied.
Councilwoman Deb Bogart said she dislikes "the flimsiness and smallness of the bags" FSI provides. Fultz said the company has exchanged older bags for a heftier bag now and residents need to exchange for the newer bag.
Bogart also commented on dropped items left lying on the ground. Fultz said he would discuss it with the route driver.
Fultz explained how pick-up times are not always consistent, depending on the number of pick-ups to be made.
He said FSI prefers to have complaints registered with the company directly as agreed to in the contract. The village is to include a notice to all utility users in their next billing.
Christmas celebrations in the village are coming together. The Christmas parade steps off at 6 p.m. Dec. 2 after forming at the fire station. After arriving at the American Legion post, participants will be greeted by Santa and treats.
Seneca East Show Choir is to perform at Trinity United Methodist Church at 7 p.m. following the parade.
Mayor Bruce Lambert wants council to take a closer look at village insurance coverage. Because payment is coming due in four months, council determined to discuss replacement values of village property and equipment as opposed to a fair market value. Village Administrator Crystal Hoepf volunteered to take pictures of all equipment for council to make decisions.
Hoepf has received varied quotes for more tree trimming in the village and a decision will be reached at a utility meeting this week.
Fiscal Officer Monique Delaney said all funds total $508,000 with another $400,000 invested.
Councilman Jeff Larick thanked the local historical society, senior citizens and Lady Lions for donations toward electrical costs during the Rally in the Road.
The meeting moved into executive session for discussion of personnel issues.

Congratulated Seneca East cross country team for winning the state championship
Adopted a resolution authorizing the village to require all supplemental appropriation requests be approved by a motion, waiving the three-reading rule
Heard a request from a citizen for a handicapped parking space at a private residence
Discussed a brush pile at the maintenance building.
Heard radar units are to be calibrated in November.
Discussed renewing a mutual aid agreement with Bloomville. Assistant solicitor Jessica Monday is to create the agreement.
Discussed a semi truck often parked on the street during weekends.
Discussed subcontracting winter snow plowing, and approved the village administrator obtaining quotes.
Council meets next at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 19. After the meeting is to be a committee of the whole meeting to discuss insurance coverage.
