Bettsville paving pact awarded

BETTSVILLE - M&B Asphalt Co. Inc. was awarded the contract to resurface streets in Bettsville. The funds are provided through a Community Development Block Grant of $44,700. The project is to be completed by Dec. 31.

Mayor Gary Harrison presented council with new policies pertaining to credit card use, travel and meals reimbursement and vehicle usage as recommended by state auditors. After review, members approved the policies superseding previous policies.

Harrison said he and Village Administrator Jon Dabrunz are attending an Ohio asset management budgeting and rate setting training in Bucyrus Wednesday.

Discussing budgeting, Fiscal Officer Larry Dunson announced he is compiling the 2013 appropriations and requested department heads submit special project needs to be considered.

Dabrunz said the lift cylinders on the ladder truck have been replaced and the new lift station pump has been installed on CR 590. He also has been readying the snowplow for winter.

Police Chief Don Mason said officers have completed a mandatory CPR, first aid and blood-borne pathogen training. He said the department has found a ring and may be contacted at (419) 986-5748 to claim it.

In other business, council:

Approved the magistrate court report.

Discussed Aspen Energy options.

Heard the first reading of the ordinance fixing and regulating prices for village gas supplies by Swickard Gas for 2013.

Announced Bettsville School's Veterans Day recognition at 1:30 p.m. Monday.

Council is to meet at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 4.
