Virginia Gelske, 93, of Fostoria and formerly of Bradner, passed away Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at Independence House Nursing Home, Fostoria.
She was born May 21, 1919, in Six Points, to Clarence A. and Ruby L. (Tefft) Dahms. She married Leo Joseph Gelske Aug. 7, 1939, in Angola, Ind., and he preceded her in death April 29, 1993.
Surviving is a son, Mark (Jackie) Gelske of Lexington, Tenn.; two sisters, Rosemary Coppler of Helena and Kay Drake of Tiffin; a daughter-in-law, Judith Gelske Slater of Brooklyn, Mich.; six grandchildren, Heather (Andrew) Drawe, Ginger (Stephen) Mehling, Chad Gelske, Michael (Kelly) Gelske, Tracy (Jon) Treloar and Monica (Steve) Wiles; and nine great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gerry; three brothers, Russell Dahms, Ansel Dahms and Richard Dahms; and a sister, Yvonne Hotchkiss.
Virginia was a retired beautician and 1926 graduate of Portage Township High School. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Gibsonburg.
Friends will be received 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at Barndt Funeral Home, 121 W. South St., Wayne, OH 43466, (419) 288 2857, where a celebration of life service will begin at 1 p.m. with Father Ted Miller officiating. Burial will follow at St. Wendelin Catholic Cemetery, Fostoria.
