County official warns of scam

November 16, 2012
The Advertiser-Tribune

County Recorder Mike Dell warns area residents about a company scamming people, charging money for a free service.

Dell said a company called Local Records Office has been offering "property profiles" for $89. Information provided in the profiles are public record and citizens who want the information can go to the recorder's office and pay less than a dollar to print it off.

"My biggest concern is you've already paid for this information once," Dell said. "You don't have to pay somebody else $89 for (information you already are entitled to)."

Dell said the company is targeting older property owners with this scam.
