Clean up trade in ‘bath salt’ varieties

November 20, 2012
The Advertiser-Tribune

Changing the chemical properties of some mind-altering drugs has allowed pushers to market them under innocent-sounding names such as "bath salts" for years. Laws in many states simply have not kept up with the criminal chemists.

But in Ohio, a bill in the state House of Representatives would make the base compounds of such drugs illegal, regardless of how they are modified.

It is an excellent idea that would put law enforcement back on the same page with pushers of substances such as "bath salts." The bill should be approved.
