CAREY - Carey pulled away after an Upper Sandusky rally and Logan Johnson turned in a double-double Saturday as the Blue Devils opened the season with a 58-55 victory.
The Blue Devils led 34-27 at intermission, but Upper Sandusky used a 16-9 surge in the third quarter to forge a tie.
Carey outscored the Rams by three points from there to get the win.

Johnson led the charge with 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Blue Devils.

TC edges Lakota
CLYDE - Columbian couldn't get much separation from Lakota, but held of the Raiders in the final period for a 28-26 win in the consolation game of the Clyde Turkey Shootout. Columbian jumped out to a 12-8 lead after one quarter, led 15-13 at halftime and took a 23-18 lead into the fourth.
Jocelyn Cole netted 15 points off of five 3-pointers to lead the Tornadoes. Payge Smith added eight points and Michaela Miller was tops on the glass with six rebounds.
Lakota was led by Kaite Park with 14 points. Rachel Feick chipped in eight.
H-L can't keep up with Redskins
BASCOM - Three Arcadia players scored in double digits and a fourth nearly did so Saturday as the Redskins stormed past Hopewell-Loudon 58-35 in the season opener for both.
Miranda Palmer's 19 points led all players, with Courtney Cramer adding 17 and Molly Glick netting 11 for the Redskins, who led 24-8 at the first stop.
Regina Fox tossed in another nine points for Arcadia, which forced 28 turnovers.
Danielle Rohrbach's seven points and eight rebounds sparked the Chieftains. Courtney Burns scored nine points and Lauren Trumpler added seven.
Clyde boots aside Raiders
CLYDE - In the final game of Clyde's Turkey Shootout, the Fliers cruised for the second night in a row, toppling Mohawk, 78-35.
Mohawk (1-1) was led by Kasey Adelsperger, who had 12 points and five rebounds, and by Sarah Parker, who had six points.
Mohawk turned the ball over 28 times in the loss, as Clyde improved to 2-0.
Royals pull away in second half
FOSTORIA - Elmwood gained breathing room in the third quarter and kept St. Wendelin at bay from there Saturday for a 55-47 win.
The Royals led 24-21 at halftime, but outscored St. Wendelin 16-9 in the third period to gain momentum.
Kirsten Curtis netted 17 points and Brittany Gross chipped in 13 for Elmwood.
The Mohawks got 15 points from Colleen Fondessy, 12 points and nine rebounds from Kamryn Troike and 11 points from Heather Saalman. Mak McAfee also hauled in nine boards.
