Clara B. Miller, 98, of Fostoria, passed away at 7:27 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at St. Catherine's Care Center, Fostoria.
She was born Nov. 19, 1914, in Alvada to Charles P. and Elizabeth (Welter) Boes. She married Leonard E. Miller on June 2, 1934, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Alvada, and he died Jan. 29, 1989.
Surviving are three children, Joanne Miller of Hawaii, James L. (Elaine) Miller of Perrysburg and Sharon Miller of Mesa, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Eugene (Marguerite) Boes of Alvada.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Phillip, Richard, Gerald and Vincent; and two sisters, Marguerite Boes and Marie Karcher.
Clara had worked for the former Nye's Supermarket, Fostoria, as a meat cutter for many years. During WWII she worked at American-Propeller in Toledo. She was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, its Rosary-Altar Society and Memorial Choir. She also was a member of the Catholic Ladies of Columbia, 55 plus club and a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary.
Clara was dedicated to her faith, family and friends. She will be remembered for her love of hand-quilting, sewing and gardening.
Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at Hoening Funeral Home, 242 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, where a Christian wake service will be held at 3:45 p.m. and a Catholic Ladies of Columbia memorial service will be held at 6 p.m.
Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, where a Rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Wendelin Cemetery.
