Farmers are encouraged to take part in the Census of Agriculture conducted every five years by USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. The census, due Feb. 4, captures a complete count of U.S. farms, ranches and those who operate them.
Data is used by people and agencies who serve farmers and rural communities from federal, state and local governments to agribusinesses and trade associations.
NASS plans to mail census forms in December.
Producers have an option to complete forms online.
