A 16-year-old boy was arrested Thursday afternoon in the 400 block of Miami Street after he ran from police as they attempted to serve him an arrest warrant.

Tiffin Police Chief Fred Stevens said the boy had run out of his residence after police tried to serve him a warrant charging him with burglary and absconding probation.

After a foot chase that lasted about 20 minutes, he was found hiding under a truck in a driveway near Nelson and Miami streets. He was arrested and taken to the Seneca County Youth Center.

He faces charges of juvenile delinquency and obstructing official business, according to police records.

Stevens said Washington Elementary had been contacted to lock its doors during the chase.

He said the Adult Parole Authority, the Seneca County Sheriff's Office and detectives from the Tiffin Police Department assisted officers in locating the boy.
