It was a perfect day in the pool for Columbian. Both the TC boys and girls swept Galion and Upper Sandusky at a double-dual, which also included Calvert.
On the girls side, Columbian topped Upper Sandusky, 116-82, and edged out Galion 99-97. Natalie Howard took a pair of individual firsts, winning the 100 backstroke (1:08.20) and the 100 butterfly (1:06.35). Howard also was part of two winning relay teams, teaming with Abby Burton, Lindsay Young and Rachel Hudacek to take the 200 medley relay in 2:09.76. The same four also were victorious in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:55.29.
Young took first in the 100 breaststroke (1:25.93) while Hudacek won the 50 freestyle (26.0). Hudacek also lowered her school record in the 100 freestyle, finishing in 57.49, good for second in the event behind Calvert's Corinne Harris.
For the second time this week, Harris set a school mark in the event. On Wednesday Harris set Calvert's school mark in the 100 freestyle at 57.71. Saturday she took first, finishing in 57.42.
Harris also took first in the 200 IM (2:24.28) with Burton finishing second for TC (2:42.90).
Calvert also got a first-place finish from Katie Tiell in the 500 freestyle, finishing in 6:05.11, more than 11 seconds better than the second-place finisher.
In dual results, Calvert fell to Upper Sandusky 116-82 and Galion 111-58.
Upper Sandusky's top finish was a pair of thirds in relay events. Mallory Weininger, Ashley Cano, Justeen Searfoss and Hannah Barth took third in the 200 medley relay (2:33.40), while Weininger, Cano and Barth teamed with Abby Young for a third in the 200 freestyle relay (2:07.57).
TC's boys won 98-64 over Galion and 109-59 over Upper Sandusky.
Chris Gates picked up a pair of firsts, hitting the wall first in the 200 freestyle (1:57.73) and the 500 freestyle (5:19.43). He also was on two winning teams. Gates, Adam Young, Isaac Lewis and Braden Kuhn won the 200 Medley relay in 1:54.83. Young, Lewis, Gates and Nate Ramsdell won the 200 freestyle in 1:41.91.
Kuhn (1:13.42) and Lewis (1:16.28) finished 1-2 in the 100 breaststroke. Lewis won the 50 freestyle in 25.14 and Young took the 100 backstroke in 1:08.19.
For Upper Sandusky, Evan Scheck took second in the 100 backstroke (1:11.26) and third in the 50 freestyle (27.41).
Calvert's lone male swimmer, Anthony Traxler, picked up a pair of fifth place finishes, in the 50 freestyle (30.61) and the 100 freestyle (1:14.43).
