Donations sought for smoke alarms, detectors in SE area

Fire districts, school districts team up to protect community

The Attica-Venice-Reed Fire District, Republic-Scipio Fire District and the Seneca East Local School District have joined forces in an effort to provide smoke detectors/alarms to families in need in the Seneca East community.

According to a press release, the fire districts and the school district are teaming to prevent a similar incident to the fire that claimed the lives of the Hamilton and Bondy family Nov. 27 in Reed Township.

The fund, named the Safe Homes for Families, is accepting donations with the hope of being able to provide all families in need with necessary smoke detectors/alarms.

Donations may be mailed or delivered to the following locations: Republic Banking Co., P.O. Box 99, Republic, OH 44867 or Sutton Bank, P.O. Box 505, Attica, OH 44807.

Donation checks should be made payable to: Safe Homes for Families.
