Seneca tops state rodeos, tractor pulls

Agricultural Society members heard Calvin Staib announce the Seneca County Fair has been awarded the best rodeo of 2012 in Ohio and the Ohio State Tractor Pull Association has named Seneca County recipient of the Tractor Pull of the Year award.

Members scheduled some entertainment for the 2013 fair. Horseracing takes place Monday night, followed by the pig scramble Tuesday and the horse pull Wednesday. The board set Thursday and Friday nights for the rodeo and Saturday's highlight is the demolition derby.

In other business, the board:

Approved the annual financial report for publication.

Approved14 horse stall renovations not to exceed $7,000 for material and labor.

Agreed to sign the usual contracts for radios and golf carts during the fair convention.

Are going to investigate a pony pull for fair week.

Moved to allow $20,000 for the entertainment estimated budget for fair week.

Heard all accounts contain $77,541.82 as of Nov. 30.

Discussed installing a 2-inch waterline for the infield using the directional boring method with an estimated cost of $6,000-$7,000.

The group is to meet at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 8.
