Merle Hohman

Merle Hohman, 69, of Findlay, died at 7:47 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 7, 1943, in New Riegel, to Francis and Marie (Buchman) Hohman. He married Diane Durholt Dec. 26, 1964, and she survives.

Merle also is survived by his three sons, Derek (DiAnna) Hohman, Nathan (Jenny) Hohman and Jared (Jenelle) Hohman, all of Findlay; his daughter, Mya (Peter) Oas of Niceville, Fla.; his two brothers, Floyd (Martha) Hohman of McCutchenville and Roy (Peggy) Hohman of Dexter, Kan.; his sister, Doris (Ron) Parkins of Maumee; his 15 beloved grandchildren, Ryan, Avianna, Kari, Mariah, Devon, Jaclynn, Aleah, Jenna-Marie, Paige, Keenan, Griffin, Blaire, Carmen, Maguire and Greyson; and his brother-in-law, Ron Smith of Bowling Green.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Lucas Merle Stearns Hohman; sister, Ruth Smith; and sister-in-law, Anne Hohman.

Merle was the founder and owner of Shop Supply Service, Findlay. He was a member of both St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Findlay and St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marble Head, participating as a canter and Eucharistic minister. He and Diane enjoyed helping and encouraging others through Marriage Encounter. He was a 1964 graduate of The Ohio State University, where he was active in The Ohio State University Men's Glee Club. He loved gardening, and spending time at Lake Erie and Lakeside, where he was involved in many theater and music activities, but most of all loved spending time with his family.

His Mass of Christian burial will be 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Bright Road. The Rev. Msgr. Michael Hohenbrink will be the celebrant. Burial will be private at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Cemetery, Findlay.

Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay, where the rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may made to The Womens Resource Center and/or St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church.
