Kathryn M. "Kate" Wade, 93, of Fostoria, passed away at 8:10 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria.
She was born Aug. 16, 1919, in Tiffin, to Hal and Marie (Schauder) Smith. She married Harry L. Wade Oct. 4, 1941, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria and he died Feb. 23, 2003.
Surviving are seven children, Thomas H. (Rachel) Wade of Warren, Dennis J. (Lynn) Wade of Kokomo, Ind., Gary M. (Vicki) Wade of Fostoria, Kathleen M. Ward of Lima, Linda C. (Joseph) Burkart of Vermilion, Barbara J. (James) Perry of Columbus, Ind., and Ellen K. (Richard) Reinhart of Lexington, Mass.; 25 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two expected great-great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bob and Jim Smith; and five sisters, Marian Strouse, Marilyn Bradner, Jane Smith, Margaret Dysinger and Sister Mary Caroline (Lillian Smith).
Kate was a homemaker, member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church and a 1938 graduate of St. Wendelin High School. She was a volunteer for the Meals on Wheels program and the Bureau of Concern, Fostoria. She will be remembered as an avid Indians and Buckeye fan and enjoyed playing bridge. She loved conversation with people and offered goodwill towards others. She was dedicated to her faith and family and will be dearly missed.
Visitation is 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at Hoening Funeral Home, 242 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria.
Her Mass of Christian burial is 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, where a rosary will be prayed at 12:30 pm. Burial will follow at St. Wendelin Catholic Cemetery, Fostoria.
Memorials are suggested to St. Wendelin School Educational Foundation or Community Hospice Care, Tiffin.
