NEW RIEGEL - New Riegel overcame shoddy shooting and a fourth-quarter surge by Ada's Taylor Willeke to claim a 46-42 win.
"Didn't shoot well and kind of sluggish today after Thursday's win at Carey," New Riegel coach Steve Lucius said after his team struggled through a 15-of-53 day of shooting.
"Nice to come out on top, and also, Ada has a very nice team," he said.
Willeke proved him right there, overcoming a personal scoreless first quarter and scoring nine points in the fourth to help the Bulldogs (5-3) force overtime.
She added another four points in overtime, but the Blue Jackets (8-1) overcame Ada 10-6 in the extra four-minute period.
Kara Scherger's 17 points, nine steals and three assists paced New Riegel. Taylor Arbogast added seven points and six rebounds, Abby Cassidy netted seven points and Lauren Ladd grabbed nine boards.
Win Born of many talents
UPPER SANDUSKY - Jorden Born nearly had a double-double and Taylor Graboski popped in 21 points Saturday as Upper Sandusky drilled Galion 67-38.
Born provided 10 points and nine rebounds for the Rams, and Graboski added eight boards and three blocks.
Savannah Piecha pitched in 14 points, four assists and four steals, Allison Snyder tallied eight points and five assists and Alex Cameron netted eight points.
Red Devils turn back Calvert
ARLINGTON - Arlington outscored Calvert 16-9 in the final period Saturday to post a 54-48 win.
Dani Heaster and Haley Dillon both scored 12 points for the Red Devils, Jordyn Webb netted 11 and Kathryn Jollitt (9) and Madi Mains (8) combined for 17.
Kate Brickner's 20 points and six rebounds sparked the Senecas (5-3).
Olivia Smith turned in 13 points, seven assists and four steals. Nicole Bickley grabbed seven boards.
Panthers rally past H-L
McCOMB - McComb rallied in the fourth quarter and kept going in overtime Saturday to upend Hopewell-Loudon 71-61 Saturday.
Hopewell-Loudon jumped out 20-11 in the first quarter and took a 49-42 lead into the fourth quarter, but the Panthers outscored H-L 15-8 that period to force overtime before using a 14-4 surge in the extra period to get the win.
Emily Clymer's 21 points led McComb. Brenna Dee (15), Kristen Buck (14) and Jenna Huffman (10) also scored in double digits for the Panthers.
Lauren Trumpler gave the Chieftains (4-4) 22 points and five assists. Cassandra Hohman scored 12 points, Aleta Daniel had 11 points, six rebounds and three steals, Courtney Burns netted 10 points and Danielle Rohrbach snared six boards.
Warriors walk all over Bowsher
Lynsey Trusty and Kasey Adelsperger each scored 10 points and Sarah Parker hauled in 10 rebounds Saturday as Mohawk hammered Toledo Bowsher 53-16.
Trusty added seven rebounds, five steals and three assists and Parker netted eight points.
Ashley Parker backed them with five steals and seven points and Clara Adelsperger scored seven points for the Warriors, who forced 36 turnovers.
Riverdale trounces Buckettes
NEW WASHINGTON - Riverdale stormed past Buckeye Central 65-37 Saturday.
None of the Buckettes scored in double digits in the loss, with Haley Hilderbrand's eight points leading the way.
