John P. Stoner died Christmas Day 2012 at St. Vincent's Medical Center, Toledo.
He was born Feb. 1, 1939, in Tiffin. His parents were Merl Stoner and Violet (Milliron) Stoner Albright.
John attended Tiffin City Schools, graduating from Columbian High School in 1957. He graduated from The University of Toledo College of Pharmacy in 1961. He married his high school sweetheart, Joan Crilly, Nov. 24, 1962. They remained in Toledo until 1976 when the family moved back to Tiffin and John accepted a position as director of pharmacy at Tiffin Developmental Center. He and his wife, a registered nurse, retired in 2001.
John kept busy traveling and enjoying life. He and his son-in-law, Chris, were ball players for the Sycamore Grasshoppers, a vintage baseball team. He served two three-year terms on the Tiffin Columbian Alumni Association Board of Trustees, maintaining the TCAA database.
He is survived by his mother; his wife of 50 years; daughter, Michelle (Stoner) Tschanen and husband, Chris of Sycamore; three granddaughters, Kayleigh, Kelsey and Kerry Tschanen; daughter, Linda (Stoner) Auger and husband, Peter, of Tunis, Tunisia; and brother, Bill Stoner and wife, Sally, of Fremont.
His life will be celebrated from 2-6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at the AMVETS, 1909 S. SR 100, Tiffin.
Donations in his honor may be made to the Tiffin Columbian Alumni Association, the Mohawk Historical Society, Sycamore, or to the Allen Eiry Center.
