Jean M. Hertzer

Jean M. Hertzer, 77, of Tiffin, died at 10:40 a.m., Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay.

Jean was born March 5, 1935, in Wyandot County to the late Ralph and Ikena (Miller) Grady. She married William F. Hertzer June 17, 1956, at the Smithville EUB Church in rural Upper Sandusky and they were married for 56 years.

Jean is survived by her husband; two sisters, Sue Will and Judy (Larry) Secoy, both of Upper Sandusky.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Bill Hertzer Jr.; brother, Larry Grady; and her brother-in-law, Kenny Will.

Jean was a 1953 graduate of Sycamore High School and Tiffin University in 1956. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Tiffin. Jean was a sixty-year member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority and enjoyed attending sorority meetings in both Tiffin and Lehigh Acres, Fla. Jean spent the last sixteen winters in Lehigh Acres, Fla., and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church of Lehigh Acres. She spent much of her summers at Heidelberg Beach near Vermilion, Ohio. Jean was a member of the board of directors for the Tiffin Rangers and served as their secretary for many years. Jean enjoyed her associations with both Tiffin University and Heidelberg University "Fellows." Jean was very proud of the building on the campus of Tiffin University called "Hertzer Technology Center."

Her funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at First Lutheran Church in Tiffin with the Rev. Paul Stark officiating.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 2-5 p.m. Tuesday at Engle-Shook Funeral Home and Crematory 135 N. Washington St., Tiffin and from 9-10 a.m., Wednesday, at the church. Burial will follow the services Wednesday at Greenlawn cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Lutheran Church or to Tiffin Rangers.
