William V. Affholder Sr., 86, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, in his home in Fostoria.
He was born in Roseville, Mich., April 23, 1926, to the late Lavina and James Affholder. He married Mary Ann Neumann June 23, 1951, at St. Margaret Mary Church in Detroit. She survives in Fostoria.
He also is survived by two sisters; eight children, Bill (Connie), Joseph "Jim" (Rosemary), Dennis (Jan), Jayne (Lewis) Wade, David, Doug (Michelle), Jon (Becky) and Joan (Troy) Wade; 18 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific.
Family and friends may call 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at Mann-Hare-Hoening Funeral Home, 407 N. Countyline St., Fostoria, where a Christian wake service will begin at 3:45 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, where a rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Wendelin Catholic Cemetery, where the United Veterans of Fostoria will provide military honors.
