The Seneca County Regional Planning Committee approved a recommendation to approve a petitioner's request to rezone a property from rural residential to highway commercial.
Rene Haubert, of Borough Family Farms LLC, wants to use the land, located on SR 53 just south of Fort Seneca, to build a commercial kitchen that can be rented for weddings, graduation parties and other events.
She also said she would like to eventually add a few rooms to the building, to make it a bed and breakfast company.
Haubert, who is the sixth generation to live on the land, said maintaining the integrity of the land also was important to her.
"We want to keep a very homey feel to it," she said. "Make it look like it is supposed to be there; we don't want a change make anything huge, audacious. We just want to make it look like it's been there for a hundred years."
County engineer Mark Zimmerman said if approved by the Pleasant Township zoning board, Haubert and her potential business could be on the hook for traffic studies, traffic lights being put up, turn lanes and other ODOT costs.
Mark Hayes, regional planning committee member, said ODOT required Camden Falls to install a light at the corner of US 224 and SR 231.
