Lois Aileen Coppus

Lois Aileen Coppus, 84, of Fostoria, passed away Saturday morning, Jan. 5, 2013, at her home.

On Aug. 22, 1928, in Tiffin, she was born to Ellis Delmer and Helen Oleta (Hoover) Sperow. She married the love of her life, Harold A. Coppus, Jr. Sept. 9, 1948, in the rectory at St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years; a daughter, Janet Strausbaugh of Upper Sandusky; 6 sons, Richard (Connie) Coppus and Michael (Karen) Coppus, both of Tiffin, David (Sandy) Coppus of Bascom, Roger Coppus, Kenneth (Debra) Coppus and John (Laurie) Coppus, all of Fostoria; 2 sisters, Marilyn (Franklin) Bugner of Tiffin, Nadine Omlor of Bascom; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Roger Sperow; and a great-grandson Bryce David Coppus.

Aileen was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, the Rosary Altar Society and a 1946 graduate from Hopewell-Loudon High School. She was the head of the family, raising seven children and taking care of the bookwork for the farm. Aileen enjoyed trips to Amish Country, the Smokey Mountains, State Parks and writing poetry. She loved the time she spent with her family, especially the grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who devoted her life to her family.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at St. Patrick Catholic Church with the Rev. Timothy Kummerer officiating. The rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to mass. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Friends may visit and share stories 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St. Tiffin, OH 44883, (419)-447-2424. A Christian Wake will begin at 1:30 pm.

Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice Care or the Alzheimer's Association.
