REPUBLIC - An injury accident involving a car and a pole was reported at East TR 106 and South SR 67 in Scipio Township Saturday night.

Sgt. Darryl Edge of the Fremont post of State Highway Patrol said Timothy Derose, 26, of Tiffin, was driving a 2007 Honda Civic southbound on SR 67 when the vehicle went off the roadway and struck a telephone pole at TR 106 and SR 67.

Edge said Derose, who was wearing a seatbelt, was cited with failure to maintain reasonable control, driving while suspended and operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Derose refused to take a blood alcohol test, Edge said.

Personnel from Seneca County Sheriff's Office and Republic fire and EMS responded to the accident, which was reported at 11:33 p.m. Saturday. A person was taken to Mercy Tiffin Hospital by Republic EMS, according to Seneca County Sheriff's Office.

SR 67 was closed due to low-hanging wires.
