Delcie Inez Rader, 95, formerly of Carey, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria.
She was born May 27, 1917, in Wyandot County, the daughter of the late Bertrum and Clara (Phillips) Smith. She married Cloyce D. Rader Dec. 24, 1937, and he survives in Fostoria.
Also surviving are two children, Eileen (Gerald) Kappes of Katy, Texas, and Terry (Scheryl) Rader of Tiffin; five grandchildren, Karen (Bill) Adam of Pearland, Texas, Kathy (Richard) Farrington of Heath, Texas, Gerald M. (Anne) Kappes of Katy, Texas, Matthew (Amy) Rader of Washington Court House and Karissa (Tim) Fox of Carey; four stepgrandchildren, Charles Fry of Old Fort, Dan Fry of Fremont and Shelley (Daniel) Phillimore and Amanda (Jeff) Smith, both of Tiffin; 10 great-grandchildren; eight stepgreat-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Forrest "Bud" Smith.
Delcie was a lifelong resident of the Carey area, graduating from Carey High School in 1935. She worked as a cook for Carey School district for 20 years and retired in 1982. She was a member of the former Carey Garden Club. She was a member of West Independence United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening and traveling the world with her husband.
Friends will be received from 2-5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey.
Her funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, at the funeral home with the Rev. Steve Fisher officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Carey.
