Jan. 25 and 26, the Columbus Jazz Orchestra plans to celebrate the courage, dignity and legacy of "the mother of the modern civil rights movement," Rosa Parks.
"Suite Rosa" is to be presented at Columbus' Lincoln Theatre, in connection with the 100th anniversary of Parks' birth. This multi-disciplinary concert will recall the day in 1955 when Parks refused to give up her seat on the bus, and celebrate the African-American story through modern and historical music and dance.
African rhythms have been incorporated into the performance to illustrate the progression of the African-American journey in America.
Single tickets are on sale for $40 (loge) and $35 (orchestra) and available by calling (614) 469-0939.
