Gene B. Kammeyer, 80, of Fostoria, died Saturday morning, Jan. 12, 2013, at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo.
He was born Dec. 27, 1932, in Defiance, to August and Flora (Hurtt) Kammeyer. He married Virginia Lane May 2, 1952, in Holgate, and she died March 13, 1974. He then married Beverly J. Cooper July 6, 1974, in Fostoria, and she died Jan. 21, 2007.
Survivors include three sons, Rick (Penny) Herbert of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Michael (Vickie) Kammeyer of Fostoria and Steven (Peggy) Kammeyer of Defiance; two daughters, Paula Barkley of Lorain and Judith England of Fostoria; a brother, Larry Kammeyer of Archbold; seven sisters, Ethel Retcher, Verona Meine, Barbara Bibler, Francis Brown, Alberta Gilliam and Elsie Olinghouse, all of Defiance, and Georgia Davis of Napoleon; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wives; three sons, Bradley and David Kammeyer, and Michael Cooper; two daughters, Carolyn and Tracy Kammeyer; four brothers, Robert, Richard, Delbert and Harold Kammeyer; and two sisters, Margaret Lowery and Leonora Kammeyer.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hope Lutheran Church in Fostoria, with the Rev. Dr. Larry Knigga officiating.
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria, and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria.
Memorials may be made to Hope Lutheran Church's stained glass fund, St. Vincent's burn unit or "Home Away from Home."
