Heidelberg University organ instructor Joan Holder McConnell is to present her faculty recital, "Baroque and Beyond," at 3 p.m. Sunday in Trinity United Church of Christ, 131 E. Perry St.
Her program is to include the premiere of a piece composed by her husband, Douglas McConnell, professor of theory and composition and director of
music technology and programs at Heidelberg.
"A Trinity Suite" was written for organ and trumpet with soprano and baritone solos and choir. It is based on three American hymn tunes, representing the three persons of the Holy Trinity.
Accompanying her are to be Heidelberg music faculty members Thaddeus Archer on trumpet, soprano Carol Dusdieker and baritone Greg Ramsdell.
Heidelberg's Community Chorus, under the direction of Paul Mayhew, also is to perform.
The program includes works by J.S. Bach, Dietrich Buxtehude, Jan P. Sweelinck and Louis-Claude D'Aquin.
Admission to the recital is free.
