John Thomas Steen, 63, of Carey, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.
He was born March 14, 1949, in Carey. He was the son of the late John M. and Vergie (Yates) Steen.
Tom married Linda Ziegler June 24, 1972. She survives in Carey.
Also surviving are three sons, Kevin Thomas Steen of Carey, Scott Michael (Katrina) Steen of Van Wert and David John (Emily) Steen of Carey; seven grandchildren, Tifanie, Stefan, Tyler and Camille Dirham, and Drew, Luke and Eli Steen; two brothers, Kenneth Steen of Carey and Jeffrey Steen of Powell; and one sister, Yvonne Coleman of Okeechobee, Fla.
Tom retired from National Lime and Stone in Carey in 2011, but his primary occupations were being a husband, father and grandfather. Tom also was a farmer.
He was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Carey.
Tom proudly served his country during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member and a past commander of American Legion Post 344 and a member of Sons of American Legion and Young Farmers of America. He also was an avid supporter of Carey athletics.
Tom was a 1967 graduate of Carey High School.
Friends will be received 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Stombaugh-Batton funeral Home in Carey.
His funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at Christ Lutheran Church, Carey with the Rev. William Schultz officiating.
Interment will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery, Carey, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Carey Honor Guard.
