Chloe Sophia Fertig, 95, of Tiffin, passed away early Monday morning, Jan. 28, 2013, at her home.
She was born Sept. 27, 1917, in Tiffin, to Coral and Anna (Ritzenthaler) Banks. She married Ivo W. Dewald Sept. 27, 1938, and he preceded her in death Jan. 9, 1973. She then married Ralph S. Fertig Dec. 31, 1982, in Tiffin, and he preceded her in death Sept. 27, 2009.
Survivors include two nieces, Beatrice (John) Bowling of Tomah, Wis., and Yvonne "Bonnie Rose" Cook of Sycamore; great-niece, Rhonda (Mark) Hendricks of Tiffin; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Chloe was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Voris, Clyde, Coral and Warren Banks; and her sister, Leota Banks.
Chloe was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, worked at Tiffin Glass House and cleaned area homes, including Hoffman Memorial Funeral Home, for many years. She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, loved to collect butterflies, spend time with friends and family and enjoyed a good conversation.
Her funeral will be noon Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH 44883, (419) 447-2424, with the Rev. Donna Van Trees officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmont Cemetery, Tiffin.
Friends may visit with the family 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, and 11 a.m.- noon Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
