OSU Extension to host farm tax webinar next week

February 1, 2013
The Advertiser-Tribune

COLUMBUS - Ohio State University Extension is planning a farm tax webinar 7-9 p.m. Wednesday to help farmers and producers understand tax laws and rules adapted after "fiscal cliff" legislation, organizers said.

The program is to offer updates on issues pertinent to farmers, growers and producers, said Larry Gearhardt, director of OSU Income Tax School Program of OSU Extension.

One example is a rule which allows farmers who don't make estimated tax payments an additional six weeks to file 2012 taxes this year, Gearhardt said.

"Because of the confusion stemming from the new legislation, farmers who don't make estimated tax payments now have until April 15 to file their taxes, instead of the previous March 1 deadline," he said.

The webinar can be viewed online at carmenconnect.osu.edu/ohioagmanager.
