OLD FORT - Carey cranked up its offense in the second half while the defense continued to crack down Friday in a 47-20 Midland Athletic League win over Old Fort.
The win let the Blue Devils (15-3 overall) tie New Riegel atop the MAL standings at 7-1. The Blue Jackets did not play Friday.
Carey led just 16-10 at halftime before racing past the Stockaders 17-4 in the third period. Carey's defense didn't allow Old Fort to score more than six point in any quarter.
Hannah Tong keyed the run in the third quarter, scoring 14 of her game-high 22 points during that stretch Carey. She also hauled in 10 rebounds.
Logan Johnson added 10 points and nine boards, Hannah Draper tallied four assists and three steals, and Haley Hoepf dished four assists.
Shelby Bilger and Sara Bell each tossed in five points for the Stockaders (1-18, 0-8). Mackenzie Gillett grabbed five rebounds and Bell had four.
Fondessy, SW take out St. Joe
FREMONT - Colleen Fondessy turned in a double-double and St. Wendelin rallied in the fourth quarter Friday to beat Midland Athletic League foe Fremont St. Joe 53-48.
The Mohawks whittled a 26-18 halftime deficit down to 40-36 by the end of the third quarter before racing away 17-6 in the fourth.
Fondessy led the way with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Heather Saalman added 17 points for St. Wendelin (13-7, 5-4 MAL), which had no other player score more than four points or grab more than four rebounds.
Cassidy Frank's 20 points sparked the Crimson Streaks (7-11, 2-5). Be Reardon added six points and 10 boards, and Brennan Reardon had six points, seven rebounds and four assists. Ashley Burns netted seven points.
Wurm, Kaple propel Bucks to victory
MT. BLANCHARD - Austin Wurm and Cade Kaple each registered double digit scoring efforts to help Buckeye Central topple Riverdale, 58-32.
Wurm netted 18 points and grabbed five boards for Buckeye Central (10-7, 8-2 North Central Conference) while Kaple chipped in 15 points and six boards.
Buckeye Central shot 24 for 42 from the field while Riverdale (3-11, 2-7 NCC) struggled with a 16-for-44 effort.
Lee Holderman tallied 14 points to lead the Falcons.
Rams can't complete comeback
GALION - Galion held off Upper Sandusky's second-half rally Friday to post a 36-34 win among North Central Conference Black Division rivals.
The win upped the Tigers to 7-9 overall and 4-5 in the NCC, while the Rams tumbled to 8-8 overall and 7-2 in the conference.
Joe Reile and Trent Howard both tossed in 11 points for Upper Sandusky, which outscored Galion 24-18 in the second half.
Carson Mittermaier backed them with 10 points and six rebounds.
