A man was killed when a semi struck his car in Seneca Township Sunday afternoon.
Kevin L. Shanks, 53, of Tiffin, the only occupant of a 2008 Toyota Prius, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident at SR 53 and CR 6, according to State Highway Patrol.
A 1999 Peterbilt semi was southbound on SR 53, and the car was westbound on CR 6. The car failed to yield from a stop sign at the intersection, according to a State Highway Patrol release.

Sgt. Darryl Edge of the Fremont post of State Highway Patrol said the car was struck by the semi on its passenger side. It traveled off the west edge of the roadway, struck a sign and tree, and was pushed through a field, coming to rest in a yard at 6566 S. SR 53.
Trooper Mark Sorg identified the driver of the semi as Keith Doliboa, 61, of Eaton. Doliboa and his passenger, Donna M. Back, 48, of Camden, were not injured, according to State Highway Patrol.
Back, Doliboa and Shanks all were wearing seatbelts, according to the release.
Ohio Department of Transportation assisted with traffic. A detour was set up, and SR 53 re-opened to traffic around 7:15 p.m. Sunday.
Personnel from McCutchenville Fire Department, New Riegel and Sycamore EMS, Seneca County Sheriff's Office, State Highway Patrol and the county's Echo unit responded to the accident, which occurred at 4:45 p.m. Sunday.
The crash was under investigation Sunday night.
