Friar Michael Wright, OFM Conv., died Monday Jan. 28, 2013.
He was born Donald Wright Dec. 30, 1929, in Tiffin, to Franklin and Gertrude (Swartzmiller) Wright. He graduated from Calvert High School in 1948 and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin. He entered the Conventual Franciscan Order in 1950 and professed solemn vows Feb. 7, 1955.
Michael served in a variety of capacities, from farming to administrative. His devotion to service led to his ordination as a permanent deacon June 7, 1987. His ministry took him to Mount St. Francis, Ind., Chaska, Minn., Carey and Lorain, Ohio, Mesilla Park, Carlsbad, Lovington, Artesia and Hobbs, N.M., San Antonio and El Paso, Texas, and Brunswick, Ga.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Alice and Marjorie; and four brothers, Paul, Norman, Eugene and Thomas.
He is survived by two brothers, D. Michael and Robert; a sister, Sue Kuhlman; and sister-in-law, Luella Wright.
Services took place Jan. 30 and 31, 2013, in Indiana.
