David Fred Canterbury

David Fred Canterbury, 60, of Arcadia, went to meet his Savior at 10:47 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay.

David was born July 6, 1952, in Fostoria, to the late Marvin and Gladys (David) Canterbury. He married Diana Beckman Aug. 29, 1970, and she preceded him in death April 27, 1986. He then married, Karen Hoepf April 16, 1988, and she survives in Arcadia.

He is also survived by one daughter, Machelle (Jim Kelly) Canterbury of Shelby Towniship., Mich.; and two sons, Christopher Canterbury of Grayton and Eric (Ruthie) Tong of Arcadia. He was preceded in death by a sister, Myrtle Clark and also survived by a brother-in-law, David (Barbara) Clark; nephews, Richard and Greg Clark; a mother-in-law and father in-law, Dale and JoAnn Hoepf; four brothers-in-law, Paul (Jil) Hoepf, Greg (Sue) Hoepf, Kevin (Cindy) Hoepf and Scott (Sandy) Hoepf; three sisters-in-law, Sharon Hoepf, Bonnie (Marty) Miller and Janice (Jim) Naderer; nine grandchildren, Michael, Brice and Alex Johnson, Christopher and Diana Canterbury, EJ, Caleb, Jordyn Tong and Mac; and several nieces and nephews.

David retired from The City of Findlay as an electrician Aug. 1, 2012. He was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church, Findlay, where he served as a trustee and directed the singing in the Jr. Church for many years. He was a GTO enthusiast, a Lake Erie fisherman and a woodworker. He loved lighthouses and enjoyed traveling to see them. David enjoyed spending time with his family and was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and uncle.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, 205 W. Sandusky St., Findlay, OH 45840, (419) 422-2323.

His funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at Trinity Baptist Church, Findlay, with visitation one hour (10-11 a.m.) prior. Pastor Michael Spann will officiate. Burial will follow at Trinity Baptist Church Cemetery, Findlay.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Baptist Church Missionary Fund.
