Cancer Society offers make-up tips
FOSTORIA - The American Cancer Society is offering "Look Good, Feel Better" for women active in cancer treatment. Participants are to receive a make-up kit and instruction to combat appearance-related side effects of radiation and chemotherapy.
The class is 2-4 p.m. today in Conference Center B, Entrance 2, at Fostoria Community Hospital. The class is free but registration is required. Call (800) 227-2345.
Family fest plans are in gear
Family Fest 2013 is set for 10 a.m.-2 p.m. April 6 at Tiffin YMCA. The committee is to have its next meeting at noon Friday at Community Hospice Care, 181 E. Perry St.
The focus of this year's Family Fest is dancing and moving. The Optimist Club is to have food available for purchase. Other groups are welcome to sell food as well. For-profit vendors pay $25 to register, while non-profit groups can have space at no charge.

Grants awarded to Fostoria group
FOSTORIA - Fostoria Community Arts Council, an all-volunteer, non-profit local organization, is beginning its 15th year serving the Fostoria area community. FCAC recently received a $1,000 grant from the Henry Geary Family Foundation and a $750 grant from the KeyBank Foundation.
These grants are to be used to provide children's workshops that are free and open to any child in grades 1-5 and to help offset expenses for the Summer Concert Series.
Although the series is co-sponsored by the city of Fostoria, the expense of hiring the talent and advertising the events is paid for by FCAC. The city provides the venue and the electricity.
Singing valentines available
Barbershop quartets from the Fostoria Lake Plains Barbershop Chorus are to deliver singing valentines 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Feb. 14 in Fostoria, Fremont, Tiffin and the area.
A Singing Valentine includes a love song and a personalized valentine card delivered by a barbershop quartet for $25. Add homemade candy for an additional $5 and a single rose in a vase for $5.

Seminar addresses child abuse
FINDLAY - The Macklin Intergenerational Institute is offering a professional development in-service on "Child Abuse Recognition and Prevention."
The class is 6-9 p.m. Feb. 12 in The Hub at Birchaven Village, 15100 Birchaven Lane, Findlay. The cost is $30 for a refresher course and $40 for the entire course.
